On-line Classics research resources:

  • Perseus Project: An evolving digital library of resources for the study of the ancient world and beyond. Includes many Latin texts.
  • Tables of Contents of Journals of Interest to Classicists (TOCS-IN): Provides the tables of contents of a selection of Classics, Near Eastern Studies, and Religion journals. It contains ca 160 journals, and over 23,000 articles; some collections of articles are also now included.
  • Gnomon search: The Gnomon search engine allows you to search for bibliographical references in the field of Classics. WARNING: The instructions on this site are in German. Just put your search terms in the "Alle Felder" field, and then hit the "Suche starten" button.
  • Maecenas: A collection of images of the ancient Greek and (especially) Roman worlds, available free for non-commercial use.
  • Diotima: A database of materials and bibliography on women and gender in the Ancient Mediterranean.
  • RomanSites: A catalog of websites on Roman Antiquity.
  • Classics and Mediterranean Archaeology: An exhaustive (but not well organized)collection of web resources of interest to classicists and Mediterranean archeologists.
  • Electronic Resources for Classicists: A very well-organized catalog of Classics sites.
  • Latin Library: A pretty reliable alphabetical listing of on-line texts, both in Latin and in translation.
  • The Stoa: A Consortium for Electronic Publication in the Humanities: Despite its rather general name, this site seems primarily focused on Classics. It organizes peer-reviewed, scholarly on-line publications as well as other on-line resources and is searchable.
